(ECCO) East Cooper Community Outreach

In an effort to help fight COVID19 and to do our part to support the local community of Charleston SC, Palmetto Group donated $1500 to East Cooper Community Outreach. We funded Christmas for 3 local families. In doing so we purchased gifts for 8 children.

ABOUT ECCO

Founded as an emergency relief effort in 1989 after the devastation from Hurricane Hugo, East Cooper Community Outreach (ECCO) has since grown into a permanent resource for the community in need with three main program areas: Basic Needs, Health Services and Empowerment. Thousands of families a year receive emergency assistance for food, clothing, household furnishings, financial aid. They provide access to dental care, medical care, prescription assistance, counseling, and educational opportunities like financial literacy classes, computer skills training, and job readiness workshops. These services are all enhanced through personal interaction with staff who provide individualized support for each client, ongoing case management, and emphasize accountability and achievement.

To provide safety net services to our low-income neighbors, while empowering them to create a better future for themselves, their families, and our communities. All programs and services strive to guide clients toward self-sufficiency. ECCO’s ministry of “Helping Neighbors Help Themselves” attempts to improve the quality of life in our community in a compassionate way that respects the dignity and worth of every person.

(ECCO) WHAT WE DO

ECCO helps individuals and families with a range of services including food, clothing, emergency financial assistance, special holiday initiatives, comprehensive medical and dental care, medications, counseling, educational opportunities including computer skills training, financial literacy workshops, job preparedness, the asset-development program, and ongoing case management. These services are all enhanced through personal interaction with staff who provide individualized support for each client while emphasizing accountability and achievement.
